Pumpkin Patch

Last year we took L to a simple, small, local farm stand's pumpkin patch, Munson Farm just east of Boulder. This year we tried to go small and local but a little bigger than Munson. We took L to Cottonwood Farms, also just east of Boulder and just down the street from Munson.

We had a great time at Cottonwood Farms! L is a little obsessed with tractors thanks to the songbook Driving my Tractor, so she was pretty much in toddler heaven! They were out working the field next to the pumpkin patch and she loved watching the tractor go back and forth. They also have a showcase of old tractors to check out. We were hoping to get a picture of her sitting on the seat with the flatirons in the background, but respected the signs that asked not to climb or sit on the tractors. The website says they have hayrides on the weekends but we went on a Wednesday, so we just borrowed a little wagon to pick up our pumpkin.

We thought L would think a corn maze was strange, but she loved it! She stuck to the path and found her way out. There was also a straw bale maze for younger children. We did not check it out, mostly because you cannot see through like you can corn and that would freak me out at her height!

They have many animals on display but not necessarily to touch, only if they come over to the fence within reach. I am a-ok with that as I feel petting zoos are torture for animals. L enjoyed mooing at the calves, seeing the miniature horse, and telling the kitten "Hi" with a wave! They also have a donkey, goat, sheep, and rabbits.

There was a mom with three children there whose boys (probably about 10) were being harassed by an old man who worked there. We only witnessed one incident in which the boys were not doing anything wrong. So if you have older children, I suggest keeping them close and making sure they are following rules. Otherwise, great place!
