Ridgeline Trail Races

What a nice 12k! I signed up for this race for three reasons:

1. My husband wanted a new race shirt.

2. I am out of shape but thought a 12k trail race wouldn't be too bad

3. It was cheap!

Let's talk about number 1 . . . neither my husband or I ever go shopping so we need some new gear in our wardrobe. I actually don't care for race shirts unless they're (yikes) cotton, but he wears one almost every day. The shirt is simple, but it's a good tech shirt.

Number 2 . . . self explanatory! I want to run a race and I thought 12k on a trail would be fun since I love trails. It did not disappoint! I love trail runs! I liked that this one wound around on single and double track trails. The course was pretty much one giant loop of going up a hill, down a hill, up a bigger hill, down the bigger hill, and so on. I had a blast and all the runners were respectful about passing.

Number 3 . . . we were going to run Run the Rocks today, but we waited so long to register that it was super expensive (for a good cause, yes) but nonetheless, we decided we couldn't swing it. This race, nearing the registration deadline was $30! You just don't see that anymore and it made my heart sing! It was an hour and a half away, but I still think it was worth it for such a well planned race. And did I mention free pictures?! They are not up yet but I am ecstatic, not because I make pretty faces when I'm exhausted, just because they're free!

I loved the small race atmosphere, and I know not everyone does. There were two signs that pointed the way to packet pickup but no signs on where to go once you reached the tables, just friendly high school cross country runners! Thank you for such a great morning!
